West Virginia State Foundation

West Virginia State University Foundation, inc.

The West Virginia State University Foundation, Inc. was established in 1959 by administration, faculty, alumni and friends to receive, manage and administer contributions and gifts for the benefit of the school. The Foundation is a public charity under the Internal Revenue Code – IRC § 501(c)(3). Since its inception, the Foundation has arranged scholarship programs, financial aid for needy students, funded and established professorial chairs and assisted many academic, athletic, community and student projects at the University. Because it is a foundation separate from the state government, it has additional flexibility to help West Virginia State University meet its needs and goals in a timely manner.

Alumni and friends can make contributions to the University and the Community and Technical College through the West Virginia State University Foundation, Inc. in the form of cash, marketable securities, real estate and other property. The Foundation offers the opportunity to make straight gifts, endowments, bequests, and sophisticated tax-favored giving such as charitable remainder trusts, private annuities and charitable lead trusts.

A Board of Directors manages and operates the Foundation in coordination with a fulltime staff. West Virginia State University and Kanawha Valley CTC administration as well as the Alumni Association are represented on the Board of Directors. The remaining Directors come from financial institutions, industry, philanthropy organizations, other professions, and community leaders.

We at West Virginia State University Foundation are grateful for the generosity of our donors. Contributions make it possible for us to continue to help individuals interested in obtaining a quality education. We make it possible for individuals who work full-time jobs to further their skills and education.

A financial reserve is essential to insure the continued growth and development of the University and the Community and Technical College.  The Foundation’s objective is to plan its support so that West Virginia State can develop its full potential and provide better services for everyone.
